Ranji Trophy round up: Group B and C

Group B:

Delhi pick up seven points against Orissa

Delhi 331 (Manhas 161*, Narwal 66, Mohanty 4-81) and 82 for 0 (Dhawan 55*) beat Odisha 143 (Natraj Behera 35, Manan Sharma 4-30) and 269 (Podder 85, Suyal 5-93) by 10 wickets

Delhi bounced back from their defeat in the previous game to beat Orissa by 10 wickets. Shikhar Dhawan helped knock of the 82 runs in just 15 overs after the bowlers had not allowed Orissa to cross 270 in their second innings. Mithun Manhas top scored in this game with 161 during Delhi's first innings.

Karnataka edge TN for 3 points on turner

Tamil Nadu 538 for 4 dec. (D Karthik 154*, Aparajith 112, Prasanna 74*, Badrinath 72, Abhinav 51, A Karthik 50) drew with Karnataka 562 for 6 (Satish 200*, Gautam 130*, Pawan 69, Uthappa 53)

Karnataka sealed the points in the final session on the final day and allowed Satish to reach his maiden double hundred against Tamil Nadu. The spinners though would be disappointed with their performances on a track that was turning square from the first day.

Maharashtra and UP play out score draw

Maharashtra 764 for 6 dec. (Jadhav 327, Motwani 147, Atitkar 80, Bawne 78, Khadiwale 68) drew withUttar Pradesh 669 for 7 (Srivastava 179, Chawla 156*, Dagar 126, Alam 70, B Kumar 62*)

Both sides would be bitterly disappointed with this result as nobody could secure first innings points. Maharashtra batted into the third day in an effort to deny Uttar Pradhesh points. The hosts would have to be content with just one point though as the first innings could not be completed. The pitch has recieved flak from both UP bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad as well as Suresh Raina.

This Pune track has redefined flat pitches.

The spinners delivered Assam their first win of the season as they beat Jharkand in Jamshedpur. Syed Mohammad picked up 5 in the forth innings for his side. Saurabh Tiwary was unable to help his side chase down 213 in the fourth innings.
